Lemurian City of Ladies

A Lemurian City Built in Memory of Christine de Pizan

Her Eyes Are Wrong

with 12 comments

Here’s a strange little item

and

a strange little tale

that you can find in one of the many Curiosity Shops

lost in the backstreets of the

Lumerian City of Ladies

~

The picture is in a gold frame and

and it is hanging in a basement in a little room with a coal shoot door that won’t stay nailed shut where I used to play as a child.

One year I pulled the picture down, turned it over and saw written on the back in dark red ink:

“Her eyes are wrong- and it’s to late to change them now “

I turned the picture so that it faced the wall.

But the words scared me more then the photograph itself

so I turned it back around

and I never looked into the eyes in that picture again.

But it didn’t matter.

Because those eyes, those wrong eyes, saw me.

I know it.

And I know that they still do.

  2. I think its all in the way the viewer looks at things–and some folk have always done very very scary things with words! Fran

  3. It’s something that makes you wonder about critics…and the stories behind both sides of things.

  4. I’m all about the one liner Joanne…so you know by nature critics and people who value art and lit think I’m er, challanged.

    But so what.

At least I know how to have fun.

  5. I am amused by some of my work colleagues who are a bit ‘high-brow” in their cinematic and literary tastes. When they tell me about “a fabulous movie” they just saw, I know it was some dark depressing thing about someone with dysfunctional relationships and a tragic life. The more messed up the main character, the better the film, I guess. Then I ask them if any cars blew up and if the hero was hot. They roll their eyes and feel sorry for me. Let ‘em. I’m having fun.

  7. Speaking of hot…..I don’t think Dr. Who is on this Friday night. I mean, really, just because there are a few fireworks going on outside doesn’t mean our VCRs and Tivos don’t work….. dang.

  8. The only reason I’ve not posted a protest is that SCI-FI is running a Twilight Zone Marathon… instead of D.W. HOWEVER….I am still not entirely happy and it might take more then a few fireworks and Rod Serling’s darn fine program to get me on board with this.

  11. I agree, sometimes the one-liner says it all! ;)

I swear there was a TZ marathon on SciFi not too long ago: why can’t they switch with DW once in a while!?

Oh wait, it’s the SciFi channel. ‘Nuff said.

  12. I sort of forgive the Sci-Fi people because it was TZ…on the other hand I’m sort of okay cause I’ve been watching Casonova
